Phil Donahue was a talk show host of the show “The Phil Donahue Show”. The television program, later known simply as Donahue, was the first popular talk show to feature a format that included audience participation. The show had a 29-year run on national television that began in Dayton, Ohio, in 1967 and ended in New York City in 1996.
Frank Zappa was a musician whose career spanned more than 30 years, Zappa composed rock, pop, jazz, jazz fusion, orchestral and musique concrète works; he also produced almost all of the 60-plus albums that he released with his band the Mothers of Invention and as a solo artist. His work is characterized by nonconformity, improvisation sound experimentation, musical virtuosity and satire of American culture. Zappa also directed feature-length films and music videos, and designed album covers.
Carl Wilson was a musician who was the lead guitarist, for the Beach Boys with the youngest sibling of bandmates Brian and Dennis. He also performed lead vocals on several of their later hits, including “God Only Knows” (1966), “Good Vibrations” (1966), “I Can Hear Music” (1969), and “Kokomo” (1988). Unlike other members of the band, he often played alongside the studio musicians employed during the group’s critical and commercial peak in the mid-1960s.
