Broncos 45-10 over the Cardinals: The Broncos defense forced 5 turnovers with two of those being interceptions returned for TDs. LB Von Miller had 2 forced fumbles in the game. It was not rookie QB Josh Rosen’s day despite his 1 TD pass to WR Larry Fitzgerald. He lost the ball 5x but could have been 6, but he didn’t lose his 3rd fumble. He left the game with a toe injury. His offensive line let in 6 sacks as well. While WR Emmanuel Sanders had a receiving TD with 102 yards receiving and threw a TD pass as well, plus both RBS had rushing TDs in Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman.
Chargers 20-19 over the Titans: QB Phillip Rivers outplayed QB Marcus Mariota with 2 TDs no turnovers compared to Mariota having 1 TD with an interception. LA barely held on since RB Melvin Gordon was out for the game in London while RB Derek Hendy had his 1st TD of the year. Tennessee scored a late TD but missed the two point conversion to try to win it in the end.
Patriots 38-31 over the Bears: The Bears took a 17-7 lead but the Patriots stormed back with 2 TDs passes to end the 1st half and then they outscored them 17-14 in the 2nd half. QB Tom Brady had 3 TD passes with an interception but two of those went to RB James White. While WR Julian Edelman had the other TD but had a fumble, one of three Patriots fumbles. But Trubisky threw two costly interceptions in the 2nd half which proved to be the difference.
Colts 37-5 over the Bills: QB Derek Anderson making the start for the injured Josh Allen his 1st start in years (been the backup to Cam Newton in Carolina for awhile) threw 3 interceptions, had a fumble and his TE Charles Clay had a fumble. All that Buffalo got was a field goal and a safety on the Colts. With all those turnovers QB Andrew Luck had the ball for most of the game and had 4 TD passes, while his RB Marlon Mack had 126 yards rushing with a rushing TD. He also caught one of those TD passes not to mention a successful two point conversion run. Returning from injury WR TY Hilton caught 2 of those TD passes.
Texans 20-7 over the Jaguars: In a divisional battle of teams with good defenses but with one only having a good QB, that team came out on top. QB DeShaun Watson had 1 TD pass which of course went to WR DeAndre Hopkins, and RB Lamar Miller had a 100 yards rushing with a TD. While Jacksonville benched QB Blake Bortles who fumbled the ball two times and Cody Kessler came in and threw an interception and fumbled the ball away, but had 1 TD pass to RB TJ Yeldon towards the end.
Lions 32-21 over the Dolphins: Surprisingly QB Brock Osweiler didn’t have a turnover with 2 TD passes to WRS Kenny Stills, and Danny Amendola and RB Kenyan Drake even had a rushing TD. But they were down 17-7 at the half and 29-14 in the 4th quarter as it wasn’t enough to keep up with QB Matthew Stafford plus their kicker missed a field goal. Stafford had 2 TD passes to WR Michael Roberts and RB LeGarrette Blount had a rushing TD. Matt Prater made four field goals.
Vikings 37-17 over the Jets: QB Kirk Cousins had 2 TD passes and RB Latavius Murray had 2 rushing TDs but the Vikings defense came to play by picking off QB Sam Darnold 3 times and caused four fumbles. Darnold did finish with a passing TD and rushing TD(his 1st career) but it wasn’t enough as he kept giving the Vikings the ball back, which they took advantage every time.
Panthers 21-17 over the Eagles: The Eagles missed a field goal, fumbled the ball three times and their run game didn’t show up. QB Cam Newton didn’t have any turnovers and threw 2 TD passes with one going to TE Greg Olsen who is back from injury. Plus WR Curtis Samuel had a rushing TD as Carolina scored 21 straight points in the 4th quarter to take the lead after being down 17-0.
Buccaneers 26-23 over the Browns: QB Baker Mayfield outplayed QB Jameis Winston by having 2 TD passes no interceptions compared to 0 TDs, two fumbles and 3 interceptions by Winston. Mayfield’s TDs went to Jarvis Landry and TE David Njoku, while rookie RB Nick Chubb in his 1st start since Carlos Hyde being traded had a rushing TD. Cleveland even got two points by tackling the opposing RB in his own end zone for a safety. Tampa Bay even missed a field goal to win it in regulation and an extra point. They only scored by three rushing TDs one by Winston, WR DeSean Jackson and RB Ronald Jones. But Tampa Bay still won despite being out played by kicking a game winning field goal in OT.
Saints 24-23 over the Ravens: In a battle of the #1 defense and the #1 offense it was the special teams that decided it as kicker Justin Tucker missed the extra point to tie the game his 1st miss in 222 straight makes. QB Drew Brees had 2 TD passes (now is in the 500 career TD passes club) and so did QB Joe Flacco. RB Alvin Kamara had a rushing TD for New Orleans and so did QB Lamar Miller for Baltimore.
Washington 20-17 over the Cowboys: QB Dak Prescott had 1 TD pass with a rushing TD but had two fumbles while RB Ezekiel Elliot was held to only 33 yards. QB Alex Smith also had one passing TD but one of those Dak fumbles was late in the 4th quarter as Washington returned it in the Cowboy’s end zone for a TD. Dallas missed a late field goal to try to send the game into OT.
Rams 39-10 over the 49ers: As usual QB Jared Goff and RB Todd Gurley came to play as Goff threw 2 TD passes and RB Todd Gurley had 2 rushing TDs plus he caught one of those TD passes. While QB CJ Beathard had two fumbles, two interceptions but he had one TD pass that went to TE George Kittle, and RB Matt Breida had a fumble. In his return kicker Greg Zuerlein accounted for 13 points for LA.
Chiefs 45-10 over the Bengals: Despite two fumbles and an interception QB Patrick Mahomes threw all over Cincinnati with 4 TD passes. Two of those TD passes came to RB Kareem Hunt who had a rushing TD as well to go with 141 all total purpose yards. QB Andy Dalton had a fumble and an interception which was returned for a TD but only 1 TD pass. It was too much for Dalton as his team was 38-10 entering the 4th.
Falcons 23-20 over the Giants: Again the Giants defense let them down by giving up 20 points as the Giants could only muster two field goals before scoring two touchdowns late. The offensive line also let QB Eli Manning get sacked five times despite his 1 TD pass to WR Odell Beckham JR, and rookie RB Saquon Barkley had a rushing TD as well, but again it was all late scoring. Atlanta QB Matt Ryan had only a 1 TD game and with RB Devonta Freeman out for the season RB Tevin Coleman was the starter who had a key late TD.
Bye Week for Raiders, Steelers, Seahawks, Packers.
