Seahawks 22-16 over the Cardinals: The Cardinals couldn’t stop QB Russell Wilson as he had 2 TD passes both to TE Jimmy Graham. Despite a TD pass from backup QB Drew Stanton and a rushing TD for backup RB Andre Ellington the Cardinals hurt themselves with RB Adrian Peterson fumbling and then being tackled in the end zone for a safety. Also, this week it helped that kicker Blair Walsh made all of his field goals. Despite winning the game the Seahawks took a loss as CB Richard Sherman is out for the year with a ruptured Achilles.
49ers 31-21 over the Giants: It started off as a field goal game with three but the vaunted Giants defense let the 0-9 49ers and rookie QB CJ Beathard throw for 280 yards with 2 TD passes and a rushing TD. The only positive is QB Eli Manning had no interceptions with 2 TD passes, one to rookie TE Evan Engram, and the defense had an interception.
Falcons 27-7 over the Cowboys: DE Adrian Clayborn had six of the 8 sacks on QB Dak Prescott and forced him to fumble two times. While QB Matt Ryan despite one interception had 2 TD passes, and RB Tevin Coleman had a TD. Prescott did score the only TD for Dallas with a rushing TD; The Cowboys definitely missed having RB Ezekiel Elliot (whose suspension kicked in) as RB Alfred Morris only had 53 rushing yards. Kicker Mike Nugent also missed his only field goal attempt.
Rams 33-7 over the Texans: It was a battle of the good and bad of QBS as Tom Savage had two fumbles, two interceptions and only 1 TD pass. While Jared Goff had 355 yards passing with 3 TD passes. WR Robert Woods caught 2 of the TD passes for the Rams and finished with 171 yards receiving, and WR Sammy Watkins caught the other TD pass. Despite not reaching the end zone RB Todd Gurley had 136 all total purpose yards. Outside of those TDS Greg “Legatron” Zuerlein had four field goals.
Vikings 38-30 over the Redskins: The positives for the Vikings is that QB Teddy Bridgewater is back off the IR but isn’t ready to start. QB Case Keenum had 300+ yards passing with 4 TD passes that went to both stud WRS (Adam Thielen had 166 yards and Stefon Diggs had 78 yards). The negatives were two interceptions from Keenum. While the other QB Kirk Cousins had 320+ yards passing with a TD pass but he had an interception. The impressive thing is he had 2 rushing TDS, but they were down again and weren’t able to make a full comeback after scoring only 10 points in the fourth.
Titans 24-20 over the Bengals: It was the RB DeMarco Murray show as he had 2 rushing TD’s and a receiving TD. His team on the other hand had a fumble and an interception. QB Andy Dalton had no interceptions for Cincinnati and 2 TD passes, with one going to WR AJ Green who had115 yards receiving. Even rookie RB Joe Mixon had a rushing TD. But Tennessee forced Dalton to fumble it twice and the kicker missed an extra point.
Buccaneers 15-10 over the Jets: In the Ryan Fitzpatrick Bowl, it was a field goal game for most of the game and a messy one. As Fitzpatrick had an interception and one of his WRS had a fumble. QB Josh McCown also had a fumble and interception and RB Bilal Powell had a fumble too. Fitzpatrick did throw a 4th quarter TD to 3rd string RB Charles Simms III but then failed on the two point conversion. The Jets did score a 4th quarter on a Hail Mary to WR Robby Anderson but it wasn’t enough time and they were down 15-9 before the TD.
Jaguars 20-17 over the Chargers: QB Phillip Rivers is trying his best to keep his team in the game and win when they are down to start/most of the game with 2 TD passes today, but he fumbled it and threw an interception. Rookie RB Austin Ekeler did catch both of the TD passes but fumbled it too. On the other side, QB Blake Bortles had a TD pass but he had two interceptions, and RB Corey Grant had a rushing TD but they missed the point after. Then in the 4th quarter they traded field goals to force the game into overtime. The Jaguars made a game winning field goal in overtime after CB AJ Boye stripped a Chargers WR to get the ball.
Steelers 20-17 over the Colts: The Colts took a 17-3 lead but was the last time they would lead. Despite a fumble and interception QB Ben Roethlisberger led his team from behind with 2 TD passes and a two point conversion to make up for an extra point being blocked. Then the Steelers went ahead with a field goal in the 4th quarter. QB Jacoby Brissett had a good game with 2 TD passes despite an interception his defense couldn’t hold the lead.
Lions 38-24 over the Browns: QB Matthew Stafford had 3 TD passes with an interception to lead the Lions along with the talented RB duo of Theo Riddick, who caught one of the TD passes, and RB Ameer Abdullah with a rushing TD. The other 2 TDs went to WR Golden Tate and TE Eric Ebron. They also forced a fumble that was returned for a TD. The Browns had that fumble and QB Deshone Kizer threw an interception. Kizer did have a rushing TD and TD pass to WR Kenny Britt but Cody Kessler came in again for him. RB Isaiah Crowell was his usual self finding the end zone for a TD.
Packers 23-16 over the Bears: It’s always a positive for young QBS (rookies or first attempt at starting) when they have no interceptions and a TD pass as Brett Hundley and Mitchell Trubisky did. The real difference in a game full of field goals with less than stellar offenses was RB Ty Montgomery having a rushing TD. It also helps as the Bears had another potential TD called back.
Saints 47-10 over the Bills: The Saints won another game without a passing TD from QB Drew Brees. He did though have a rushing TD. New Orleans is playing old school football with a power running game and stifling defense. RB Mark Ingram had 131 yards rushing with 3 rushing TDs, and rookie Alvin Kamara had 106 yards rushing and a rushing TD. Also, 3rd sting RB Trey Edmunds had a rushing TD the first of his career, and WR Michael Thomas had 117 yards receiving. RB LeSean McCoy had another clunker of a game with a fumble. The Saints intercepted QB Tyrod Taylor and held him to no TD passes on the ground or in the air and he was benched. As rookie QB Nathan Peterman had a junk time TD pass in the end.
Patriots 41-16 over the Broncos: It was all about QB Tom Brady and having so many weapons even if you’re without two of your WRS. Brady was clean of interceptions and had 3 TD passes going to one of the RBS Rex Burkhead, RB James White, and one of the three TEs they have, Dwayne Allen. Even new acquisition at TE Martellus Bennett had three catches in his debut. RB Deion Lewis had a rushing TD and had a 103 yard kick return TD as well. New England added a blocked punt. QB Brock Osweiler did have an interception but he had both of his WRS healthy and it showed as RB Emmanuel Sanders had 137 yards receiving, and WR Demaryius Thomas had their lone TD. But the vaunted defense for Denver met its match this week.
Panthers 45-21 over the Dolphins: It was all Carolina in this one as it was the QB Cam Newton and RB Christian McCaffrey show. Newton had 250+ yards passing, 4 TD passes and McCaffery had a rushing TD and a receiving TD. With WR Kelvin Benjamin traded Devin Funchess is the #1 WR and he caught 2 TD passes. Also backup RB Cameron Artis-Payne had a rushing TD and RB Jonathan Stewart had 110 yards rushing. QB Jay Cutler did have 2 TD passes but he did have an interception and was playing catch-up all game. RB Kenyan Drake had his 1st TD of the year. He is now the starting RB with Jay Ajay being traded.
