Drew Brees is the Quarterback of the New Orleans Saints. He is 33 years old and wears the jersey number 9. He was drafted in 2001 by the San Diego Charges out of Purdue. But at the end of his career with the Chargers he suffered an injury to his shoulder. The Chargers weren’t sure how well he would recover after surgery along with the Dolphins. Brees didn’t like the offers he was receiving because he believed he was a top five QB.
He signed with the Saints instead who offered him $10 million in guaranteed money the first year and a $12 million option the second year. He eventually signed for six years worth $60 million. In 2009-2010, season he won Super Bowl XLIV and he was named MVP in that game. He has been in 6 Pro Bowls and has been an All Pro 4 times. He has also won these awards twice: AP Offensive Player of the Year and the NFC MVP. He has won these awards 3 times: NFC Offensive player of the Year and the FedEx Air Player of the Year. He has also won: Comeback Player of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year, Sportsman of the Year, Bert Bell Award, and the Walter Payton Man of the Year. He is also the single season passing yards leader. He also has NFL records and the Saints and Chargers franchise records.
Drew Brees was on the cover of Madden 11 by EA sports. On March 30, 2010 he became the first ever national spokesman of AdvoCare International when he signed a 3 year deal. He will be involved in AdvoCare’s national marketing efforts, as well as acting as a spokesperson for the company and its more than 71,000 member independent sales force. Their slogan is: “We Build Champions”, which goes well after Brees won a Super bowl. AdvoCare also supports Drew’s foundation “Brees Dreams Foundation”.
Brees has been using their products since 2002. After the oil spill in the gulf, Drew partnered with the Pepsi Refresh Project that will help elevate the need for good ideas, big and small, that will help affected communities move forward. He won the $100,000 contest by Pepsi which he used on the New Orleans-based Hope Lodge which provide rooms for cancer patients and their caregivers. Drew is the “VapoDad” for Vicks Vaporub and did commercials with his son. Before that he was one of the many NFL spokesmen for the print ad and commercials for Vicks’ Dayquil and Nightquil and Walgreens was also incorporated within it, so co branding was applied. Vicks is the official cold/flu medicine of the NFL. He also is a spokesman for Chase credit card and he does a commercial with his son also showing off the Quick play app. He also has done a few commercials with the NFL Post and ESPN for fantasy football. He also did a Sportscenter commercial as well.
For Verizon NFL mobile app on your cell phone he is featured in it as the main highlight pumping his teammates up. He has a third commercial with his son for Pampers, and in it he’s throwing to see which diaper can handle a throw from him along with Drew playing with his son. Drew Brees has also teamed up with Play 60/Lets Move which is an NFL program to get kids to exercise for 60 minutes. He also was worked with Michelle Obama for Play 60. In ‘United We Serve’ he throws a pass to the President Barack Obama in a slow down dramatic scene. Brees, a PEFCU member since his freshman year at Purdue in 1997, has been its spokesperson since 2001 and has recently renewed a three-year contract with the credit union.
Teaming up with Visa they have come out with commercials and he also played the financial football video game and helped out rookies.
