2021 NFL Recap Week 1:

Buccaneers 31-29 over the Cowboys: QB Dak Prescott looked good after issues with his shoulder and recovering from ankle surgery with three TD passes, two of those going to WR Amari Cooper but it wasn’t enough. Tampa Bay hit the game winning field goal as time expired. QB Tom Brady didn’t have a SB hangover with four TD passes two of them going to TE Rob Gronkowksi.

Texans 37-21 over the Jaguars: QB Tyrod Taylor who had two TD passes and Houston went up 27-7 over the Jaguars leading into halftime. Jacksonville played catch up for most of the game as QB Trevor Lawrence threw two of his three TD passes in the second half but also had three interceptions.

Chargers 20-16 over Washington: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick left the game early for Washington and their offense didn’t look great as they had three total fumbles plus they missed a field goal. QB Justin Herbert didn’t have to do much as he finished with one TD and his RB Austin Ekeler had a rushing TD.

Seahawks 28-16 over the Colts: QB Russell Wilson had four TD passes with two to WR Tyler Lockett, while QB Carson Wentz in his Colts debut had two TD passes but had a fumble.

Panthers 19-14 over the Jets: In the Sam Darnold bowl his new team came out on top as Darnold had a passing and a rushing TD. Rookie QB Zach Wilson did his best despite being down 16-0 at halftime by rebounding with two TD passes both to WR Corey Davis but had an interception and was sacked six times.

Bengals 27-24 over the Vikings (OT): RB Dalvin Cook fumbled in overtime which led to the Bengals hitting the game winning field goal. QB Kirk Cousins had two TD passes, both to WR Adam Thielen, while QB Joe Burrow two TDs in his return from injury plus lead his team down the field to set up that field goal.

Cardinals 38-13 over the Titans: It was the QB Kyler Murray show with a rushing TD and four passing TDs with two each going to both WRs Christian Kirk and DeAndre Hopkins. While Arizona’s defense held RB Derrick Henry to under 60 yards rushing, forced two fumbles, picked off QB Ryan Tannehill once, sacked him six times(five by Chandler Jones), and the Titans kicker missed a field goal and extra point.

49ers 41-33 over the Lions: The 49ers took a 31-10 lead entering halftime and QB Jared Goff did all he could in his Lions debut by throwing two TD passes in the second half but it wasn’t enough. While for the 49ers it was a team effort as two RBs had rushing TDs and QB Jimmy Garoppolo had a TD pass. Detroit missed a field goal, had a turnover on downs, and Goff had an interception that was returned for a TD which did not help in their effort to come back.

Steelers 23-16 over the Bills: Despite a 10-0 lead backed by a QB Josh Allen TD entering halftime the Bills defense collapsed as they were outscored 23-6 in the second half. The Steelers defense blocked a punt for a TD and forced four fumbles, plus QB Ben Roethlisberger had one TD pass.

Eagles 32-6 over the Falcons: QB Jalen Hurts had three TD passes and their 3rd string RB had a rushing TD. While the Falcons looked inept on offense even with a new head coach Arthur Smith known for his offense, they could only muster two field goals which both came in the first half.

Chiefs 33-29 over the Browns: QB Patrick Mahomes started his quest to win another SB with three passing TDs all in the second half with two going to TE Travis Kelce, and had a rushing TD to get this comeback win. While QB Baker Mayfield had no TD passes with an interception, their punter muffed a punt attempt and  if it weren’t for the rushing attack of RBs Nick Chubb’s two rushing TDs, Kareem Hunt and Jarvis Landry getting rushing TDs it wouldn’t have been that close.

Broncos 27-13 over the Giants: QB Daniel Jones had one TD pass in the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead and that was the last time they had a lead as the Giants defense gave up two passing TDs to Teddy Bridgewater and a rushing TD to RB Melvin Gordon. He did add a rushing TD at the end of the game but the game was already settled way before that.

Dolphins 17-16 over the Patriots: Both QB’s had a TD pass in Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones, but they both had turnovers. The Patriots had four total fumbles and if it weren’t for their kicker it wouldn’t have been close. The difference was Tagovailoa had a rushing TD.

Saints 38-3 over the Packers: QB Jameis Winston had five TD passes while QB Aaron Rodgers had no TD passes with two interceptions, and even Jordan Love in came but had a fumble as they could only muster a field goal.

Rams 34-14 over the Bears: In QB Andy Dalton’s debut with the Bears he had an interception and a fumble while rookie QB Justin Fields had a rushing TD. In his Ram’s debut QB Matthew Stafford had three TD passes.

Raiders 33-27 over the Ravens (OT): The Ravens were up 17-10 entering the 4th quarter until the Raiders came back to tie it and win it in overtime as both of QB Derek Carr’s TD were in the 4th and overtime but had an interception in overtime. RB Josh Jacobs added two rushing TDs for Las Vegas. QB Lamar Jackson had three of his team’s four fumbles and the Ravens actually got two rushing TDs from their 4th string RB and newly signed RB Latavius Murray after losing their top three RBS to season ending injuries.
