Chiefs 34-20 over the Texans: Houston took a quick lead in the 1st quarter but was outscored 24-0 nothing until QB Deshaun Watson did his best with a comeback attempt. He threw 1 TD pass and ran one in for a TD but it wasn’t enough in the end, plus his kicker missed a field goal. The Chiefs picked up where they left off last year with their offense as rookie RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed for 138 yards with 1 TD, and QB Patrick Mahomes had 3 TD passes to all of his main weapons in TE Travis Kelce, WRs Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins.
Seahawks 38-25 over the Falcons: QB Russell Wilson was on fire with 4 TD passes in the first 3 quarters with two of them going to his RB Chris Carson. While the Falcons had a fumble, QB Matt Ryan had an interception and their kicker missed an extra point. Ryan did his best with two 4th quarter TDs but it was too late by then. Both teams with new RBs had rushing TDs in Todd Gurley for Atlanta and Carlos Hyde for Seattle.
Ravens 38-6 over the Browns: QB Lamar Jackson picked up where he left off last year, he had 3 TD passes while QB Baker Mayfield had 1 TD pass, canceled out by an interception. Ravens rookie RB JK Dobbins had two rushing TDs, which helped put the game out of reach as Cleveland had three fumbles, a missed field goal and a missed extra point.
Bills 27-17 over the Jets: It was all QB Josh Allen as he had 2 passing TDs and a rushing TD to put his team up 21-3 going into halftime. Despite two fumbles by Allen with two missed field goals, all that QB Sam Darnold could muster up was 1 TD pass that was cancelled out by an interception, plus his TE fumbled the ball once.
Raiders 34-30 over the Panthers: It was the battle of RBS with Josh Jacobs coming out on top as he had three rushing TDs compared to Christian McCaffrey only getting two, plus Jacobs had more receiving yards. Carolina also missed an extra point.
Bears 27-23 over the Lions: The Bears looked hapless on both sides of the ball, as their defense gave up 23 points through three quarters. The offense could only muster up two field goals through three quarters too. Chicago finally woke up in the 4th quarter with 3 TD passes by QB Mitchell Trubisky, and their defense picked off QB Matthew Stafford once plus Detroit missed a field goal.
Jaguars 27-20 over the Colts: QB Gardner Minshew had 3 TD passes and the defense had two interceptions. So much for tanking for the worst record! They beat the best team in their division. The Colts did have two TDs early but they were cancelled out by missing a field goal and those two interceptions by QB Phillip Rivers.
Packers 43-34 over the Vikings: QB Aaron Rodgers had 4 TD passes two to WR Devante Adams, RB Aaron Jones had a rushing TD and their defense picked off QB Kirk Cousins once plus sacked him in the end zone for a safety. Green Bay went up 29-10 entering the 4th quarter by then it was too late for QB Kirk Cousins who rebounded with 2 passing TDs both to WR Adam Thilen. If it wasn’t for RB Dalvin Cook’s two rushing TDs it would have been a whole lot worse.
Patriots 21-11 over the Dolphins: QB Cam Newton didn’t throw a single TD pass but had two rushing TDs and RB Sony Michel had his own rushing TD. Their defense picked off QB Ryan Fitzpatrick three times and forced him to fumble once. The only TD for Miami was a rushing TD by Jordan Howard.
Washington 27-17 over the Eagles: The Eagles took a 17-7 lead entering halftime due to QB Carson Wentz throwing 2 TD passes but things went downhill from there. Wentz had two interceptions, was sacked seven times, they turned the ball over on downs twice, lost one of their three fumbles and they missed a field goal. RB Peyton Barber had 2 rushing TDs for Washington.
Chargers 16-13 over the Bengals: In Bengals rookie QB Joe Burrow’s debut he had no passing TDs, one interception and had one of his two team’s fumbles, plus his team also missed a field goal to tie it. His only highlight was a rushing TD. The Chargers were down 13-6 later until they woke up with 10 points in the 4th quarter to go ahead late with a rushing TD by RB Joshua Kelley.
Cardinals 24-20 over the 49ers: It was a back and forth game between two divisional rivals as the Cardinals came out on top with a go ahead rushing TD by RB Kenyan Drake. QB Kyler Murray had 1 passing TD and rushing TD. While QB Jimmy Garoppolo had 2 passing TDS. Despite Arizona missing two field goals the 49ers couldn’t come back to win as they turned the ball over on downs on their last possession.
Saints 34-23 over the Buccaneers: In the battle of 40something year old QBs Drew Brees came out on top due to his 2 TD passes and RB Alvin Kamara caught one of those plus added a rushing TD. Their defense picked off QB Tom Brady two times with one being returned for a TD to cancel out his 2 TD passes, recovered a loose ball on a kickoff and they blocked a field goal. Surprisingly Brady added a rushing TD too.
Rams 20-17 over the Cowboys: RB Malcolm Brown had 2 rushing TDs that helped put the Rams up late as they hung on to secure the win. Dallas missed a field goal in the first half and turned the ball over twice in the second half. RB Ezekiel Elliot did have 2 TDs one rushing and one receiving. The Cowboys new kicker who missed a field goal, Greg Zuerlein, was Los Angeles’ kicker for eight seasons.
Steelers 26-16 over the Giants: QB Ben Roethlisberger looked like his old self after missing most of last year with an injury as he had 3 TD passes with two going to WR JuJu Smith-Schuster. The Steelers already had a 16-10 lead heading into halftime and continued to outscore the Giants in the 2nd half as well. Pittsburgh’s defense also picked off QB Daniel Jones twice.
Titans 16-14 over the Broncos: New Titans kicker Stephen Gostkowski redeemed himself by hitting the go ahead field goal to win the game after he missed three field goals and one extra point. QB Ryan Tannehill had 2 TD passes while Broncos QB Drew Lock only had 1 TD. Lock also had an interception and two of his team’s four fumbles. New Broncos RB Melvin Gordon had the other TD for them.
