NFL Recap Week 5 2019:

Seahawks 30-29 over the Rams: On Thursday night football between two divisional rivals you had a close game that was neck and neck for all of it as the Rams missed a game winning field goal at the end to seal it for Seattle. His kicker missed a field and one of his receivers fumbled a ball which made things harder on QB Russell Wilson but he led his team down the field for a go ahead TD late in the 4thwhich was one of his 4 TD passes. QB Jared Goff threw almost 50 times after throwing it 68 times previously as he is not the type of QB who can be counted on to throw the ball that much and had an interception and only 1 TD pass. RB Todd Gurley did have 2 rushing TDs which accounted for the other scores.

Patriots 33-7 over Washington: When the 3rd QB to play for Washington suits up in Colt McCoy and throws an interception, has one of his team’s three fumbles and has no TD passes it signals an easy day at work for New England. QB Tom Brady had a good day outside of an interception with 3 TD passes and RB Sony Michel added a rushing TD. A thing to look at going forward newly signed kicker Mike Nugent missed an extra point in place of injured kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

Bills 14-7 over the Titans: The Titans missed all four field goals that ultimately did them in, in a closely contested defensive game. QB Josh Allen returning from concussion protocol did have an interception but threw 2 TD passes. RB Derrick Henry had the only score for Tennessee.

Ravens 26-23 over the Steelers: This was messy divisional game where Pittsburgh had an interception and two fumbles while QB Lamar Jackson had 3 interceptions and a fumble for Baltimore. The Ravens had the lead for most of game as they ran the clock down by running 40 times with RB Mark Ingram adding a rushing TD. Despite those turnovers Jackson did have a passing TD. On the other side QB Mason Rudolph had 1 TD pass as well before leaving the game with a concussion and RB James Connor also had a rushing TD. The Ravens kicked a field goal in OT to seal it.

Eagles 31-6 over the Jets: When a 3rd string QB in Luke Falk has two interceptions one being returned for a TD, two fumbles with one being returned for a TD. He also had no TD passes plus they missed a field goal so it becomes an easy day for the Eagles offense because their defense also sacked Falk 10 times. QB Carson Wentz had 1 TD pass to TE Zach Ertz and RB Jordan Howard added a rushing TD.

Raiders 24-21 over the Bears: The Raiders went up 17-0 in London in the 1sthalf because both RBs had a rushing TD. They almost blew the game with two fumbles in the 2nd half and the Bears answering with 21 points in the 3rd quarter. QB Chase Daniels had 2 TD passes both to WR Allen Robinson and RB David Montgomery added a rushing TD. Then Daniels threw his second interception of the game when trying to come back after Oakland’s rookie RB Josh Jacobs added his 2nd rushing TD of the game.

Vikings 28-10 over the Giants: Despite two fumbles by RB Dalvin Cook QB Kirk Cousins was able to lead his team to 2 TD passes both to WR Adam Thielen. While their defense picked off QB Daniel Jones once, sacked him four times, forced a safety and forced two turnovers on downs while holding them to 1 TD and a field goal.

Saints 31-24 over the Buccaneers: Outside of an interception QB Teddy Bridgewater tied his career high with 4 TD passes with two of them going to WR Michael Thomas which was his 3rd straight win this season in place of the injured QB Drew Brees. QB Jameis Winston fell back to earth this week with only 2 TD passes.

Texans 53-32 over the Falcons: QB Deshaun Watson had 426 passing yards with 5 TD passes 3 went to WR Will Fuller V who had 217 yards receiving and RB Carlos Hyde added a rushing TD. Houston missed two extra points and had five fumbles. Imagine how much more they could have scored if they held onto the ball. QB Matt Ryan tried his best to keep up with 3 TD passes and a rushing TD but it was too much to overcome in the 2nd half as Houston put up 37 points, including picking off Ryan and returning it for a TD as time expired.

Cardinals 26-23 over the Bengals: Despite not throwing a TD pass rookie QB Kyler Murray had just under 100 yards rushing with a rushing TD and his backup RB added another rushing TD. The Bengals settled for field goals throughout the game until two late TD passes by Andy Dalton but it was too late and then Arizona hit a game winning field goal at the end.

Panthers 34-27 over the Jaguars: It was the RB Christian McCaffrey show with 237 total all-purpose yards, two rushing TDs and a receiving TD plus his backup added another rushing TD. He had to do that because his kicker missed two field goals and an extra point. While QB Gardner Minshew had 2 TD passes, RB Leonard Fournette added a rushing TD, but Minshew’s three fumbles cancelled those out with one being returned for a TD.

Packers 34-24 over the Cowboys: It was the “Free” RB Aaron Jones game with 4 rushing TDs to go with 107 yards rushing and he led his team in receiving with 75 yards as well. QB Dak Prescott had 2 TD passes but had three interceptions. RB Ezekiel Elliot had a rushing TD but his kicker missed two field goals.

Broncos 20-13 over the Chargers: This was an ugly divisional game as Joe Flacco had an interception and two of his team’s three fumbles plus their kicker missed a field goal. While the Chargers kicked also missed a field goal, RB Austin Ekeler fumbled the ball away and QB Phillip Rivers had no TDs with two interceptions. The difference in the game was RB Phillip Lindsay had a rushing TD. The only non-field goal for Los Angles was a punt return TD but it wasn’t enough in the end.

Colts 19-13 over the Chiefs: The Colts defense limited the Chiefs to under 20 points by limiting QB Patrick Mahomes to only 1 TD pass plus forced a fumble from RB LeSean McCoy! Meanwhile kicker Adam Vinatieri made all four of his field goals.

49ers 31-3 over the Browns: QB Baker Mayfield had two interceptions and two of his team’s three fumbles. That made things easy on QB Jimmy Garoppolo who had 2 TD passes. RB Tevin Coleman in his return from injury had a rushing TD, and RB Matt Brieda also had a rushing TD, but also caught one of those TD passes as well. Kicker Robbie Gould missed three field goals so this could have been more of a blowout than it was.
