Jaguars 20-7 over the Titans: It was the QB Gardner Minshew show as he had 2 TD passes early on to cruise to victory. Tennessee had three fumbles and QB Marcus Mariota had no TD passes while being sacked 9 times as the only bright spot was a rushing TD by Derrick Henry.
Lions 27-24 over the Eagles: In a closely contested game between two good QBS, who each threw at least 1 TD pass. It came down to the Eagles fumbling the ball away three times to shoot themselves in the foot. QB Carson Wentz had 2 TD passes both to WR Nelson Agholor stepping up for the other two WRs who were missing due to injury in Alshon Jeffrey and DeSean Jackson, plus RB Jordan Howard had his 1st rushing TD with the team. For the Lions, QB Matthew Stafford did only have 1 TD pass but his RB Kerryon Johnson had a rushing TD plus the most exciting play was a 100 yard kick return by Jamal Agnew.
Patriots 30-14 over the Jets: It was all Patriots as QB Tom Brady had 2 TD passes and his RBs Rex Burkhead and Sony Michel each had rushing TDs. For the Jets, they had a special teams TD by recovering a muffed punt return in the end zone. Rookie QB Jarrett Stidham came in the blow out for New England but threw an interception that CB Jamal Adams returned for a TD.
Vikings 34-14 over the Raiders: QB Derek Carr might have thrown more TD passes then QB Kirk Cousins, 2:1 but he threw an interception, his backup RB fumbled the ball and their kicker missed a field goal making it hard to come back against the good defense Minnesota has. It was all about the rushing TDs for the Vikings as RBs Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison, and WR Adam Thielen had rushing TDs plus Thielen caught that Cousin’s TD pass.
Chiefs 33-28 over the Ravens: Despite a 3 rushing TD game from RB Mark Ingram it was not enough to overcome a 30-13 deficit entering the 4th quarter. QB Patrick Mahomes had 3 TD passes and RB LeSean McCoy who was questionable for the game caught one of those TD passes and he added a rushing TD. While Kansas City’s defense held QB Lamar Jackson to only 1 rushing TD but no passing TDs.
Colts 27-24 over the Falcons: Colts were leading 20-3 at halftime after QB Jacoby Brissett threw 2 TD passes but QB Matt Ryan did his best in the 2ndhalf to try to overcome the deficit with 3 TD passes of his own (2 to TE Austin Hooper & 1 to WR Julio Jones), but it was not enough as the Colts added a rushing TD in the 4th quarter by Marlon Mack.
Packers 27-16 over the Broncos: Despite a 130 yards total all-purpose game with 2 rushing TDs for Phillip Lindsay it wasn’t enough to overcome his team fumbling it twice with one by QB Joe Flacco, who also threw an interception plus his team missed an extra point. QB Aaron Rodgers did had 1 TD pass and his RB Aaron Jones had 2 rushing TDs.
Cowboys 31-6 over the Dolphins: QB Dak Prescott had 2 passing TDs (both to WR Amari Cooper) and added a rushing TD. Backup RB Tony Pollard added a rushing TD to his 103 yards while RB Ezekiel Elliot also ran all over Miami with 125 yards rushing. The Dolphins only had 2 field goals but missed one too, while having two turnover on downs, and a few fumbles.
Bills 21-17 over the Bengals: Both QBs were sloppy as Andy Dalton had two interceptions/his team fumbled it twice and Josh Allen had one interception, two fumbles and his team fumbled it a third time to cancel out their lone TD passes. Dalton did have a rushing TD and RB Frank Gore had a rushing TD for the Bills. The key for Buffalo was going for a two-point conversion on their 1stTD and succeeded.
Panthers 38-20 over the Cardinals: In rookie QB Kyle Allen’s debut filling in for the injured QB Cam Newton, had 4 TD passes two went to TE Greg Olsen and RB Christian McCaffrey who had 153 yards rushing with a rushing TD. Rookie QB Kyler Murray did his best with 2 TD passes but threw two interceptions, and when you lead your team in rushing it is not a good sign or a good way to win a game.
Giants 32-31 over the Buccaneers: In rookie QB Daniel Jones’ debut in place of QB Eli Manning he had 2 passing TDs going to WR Sterling Sheppard who had 100 yards receiving and to TE Evan Ingram who had 113 yards. Jones wasn’t done as he added 2 rushing TDs with one being the essential game winner as Tampa Bay missed a field goal in the end. Those rushing TDs were impressive because he didn’t have RB Saquon Barkley who left the game with an ankle injury so this was a win and loss. For the Buccaneers, QB Jameis Winston had 3 TD passes that all went to WR Mike Evans who had 190 yards receiving but they also missed an extra point too.
Texans 27-20 over the Chargers: QB Deshaun Watson stormed back to take the game after being down by at half time with 3 passing TDs and RB Carlos Hyde had a rushing TD. Houston had to overcome an early fumble and a missed field goal. QB Phillip Rivers this time wasn’t the one down trying to lead his team from behind for most of the game as he put his team up early with 2 TD passes to WR Keenen Allen to start the 1st half. Then in the 2nd half the team fumbled the ball and had a turnover on downs plus his defense let him down by giving up 20 points in the 2nd half.
Saints 33-27 over the Seahawks: In place of the injured QB Drew Brees, QB Teddy Bridgewater had 2 TD passes going to WR Michael Thomas and RB Alvin Kamara who also had a rushing TD. New Orleans also had a punt return TD. QB Russell Wilson did his best to keep his team in the game by throwing 2 TD passes and having 2 rushing TDs. His starting RB Chris Carson fumbled the ball that led to an easy TD for the Saints in the 1st half, and the backup was out with an injury, so Wilson again tried to do it all through the air and with his legs but it wasn’t enough.
49ers 24-20 over the Steelers: In a sloppy game where QB Jimmy Garoppolo had two interceptions and two of his team’s four fumbles, but he did throw the game winning TD in the end. While QB Mason Rudolph had 2 TDs in his 1stcareer start for the injured QB Ben Roethlisberger but he had an interception and one of his team’s two fumbles. RB Jeff Wilson had 2 rushing TDs for San Francisco.
Rams 20-13 over the Browns: It was a field goal game early and it was the Rams’ defense that was the hero because QB Jared Goff had a fumble and 2 interceptions that cancelled out his 2 TD passes to WR Cooper Kupp. Their defense picked off QB Baker Mayfield once, forced him to fumble and sacked him three times while holding the Browns to one TD all game.
Bears 31-15 over Washington: The Bears led 28-3 at half time and the game was over from there no need for half time but but it wasn’t easy as it should have been as QB Trubisky had an interception and their kicker missed a field goal plus the defense had more than five penalties. It was positive that Trubisky had 3 TD passes all to WR Taylor Gabriel and the defense picked off QB Case Keenum three times, forced three fumbles and stopped two 2-point conversion attempts.
