Packers 10-3 over the Bears: It was a game of defense that came down to which QB played better. QB Aaron Rodgers had the lone TD that mostly improvised through tight traffic but was sacked four times and his RB was held to under 40 yards rushing. Both teams only averaged under 4 yards a play. The Packers defense showed that it did improve by sacking QB Mitchell Trubisky four times and intercepted him once which was by former Bears S Adrian Amos. The questions for the kicking didn’t come into play as kicker Eddy Pinero made his lone field goal the only Bears points, it was the offense: 8 punts & two turnovers on downs with that interception as well.
Rams 30-27 over the Panthers: It was the RB Malcom Brown show despite a 97 yard rushing game from RB Todd Gurley as Brown had 2 rushing TDs. Also, LBs Clay Matthews and Dante Fowler sacked QB Cam Newton three times and their unit picked him off once plus forced Carolina to fumble twice. The game was closer than it should have been because of how great RB Christian McCaffrey is by keeping the Panthers in the game with 2 rushing TDs for 128 yards and leading his team in receiving yards with 81, which is not saying much for Newton’s day. Plus, QB Jared Goff threw an interception and they missed a field goal/a punt was blocked.
Titans 43-13 over the Browns: The upset of the week had QB Marcus Mariota outplaying QB Baker Mayfield as Mayfield was picked off three times with one being returned for a TD and was sacked four times/sacked in end zone for a safety. While Mariota had three TD passes two going to TE Delanie Walker, and RB Derek Henry had a rushing TD plus the other TD pass Mariota threw.

All 3 TD passes went to WR Sammy Watkins who had 198 receiving yards, plus RB Damien Williams added a rushing TD. The bigger issue is WR Tyreek Hill who left with a shoulder injury that will probably keep him out for a few weeks, and Jaguars QB Nick Foles left the game with a broken collarbone which will keep him out indefinitely as he was placed on the IR.

Chargers 30-24(OT) over the Colts: It was an admirable attempt by QB Jacoby Brissett and RB Marlon Mack but it wasn’t enough as the Chargers outlasted them in OT. Brissett had 2 TD passes both went to WR TY Hilton and Mack had a rushing TD with 174 yards rushing. RB Austin Ekeler showed the Chargers didn’t need Melvin Gordon with his 181 all total purpose yards with a rushing TD and catching 2 of the 3 TD passes QB Philip Rivers threw. The other went to WR Keenan Allen who had 123 yards receiving. What hurt the Colts was kicker Adam Vinatieri missing a field goal and an extra point.
Seahawks 21-20 over the Bengals: It was good attempt out of QB Andy Dalton trying to hold his own against QB Russell Wilson by having 2 TD passes that went to WR John Ross who had 158 yards receiving, but he had two fumbles out of the team’s four and missed a field goal. The worst thing was RB Joe Mixon leaving the game with an ankle injury. On the other side Wilson had 2 TD passes with one going to RB Chris Carson who also had a rushing TD.
Cardinals Lions 27-27 Tie: The Lions were up 17-6 entering the 4th quarter and got outscored 21-10 leading to a tie vs a rookie QB & HC in their NFL debuts. 49ers 31-17 over the Buccaneers: Despite an early interception by QB Jimmy Garoppolo(1 TD pass) which was returned by the Buccaneers for a TD the 49ers held on for the win because they picked off QB Jameis Winston three times and returned two of them for TDs one by CB Richard Sherman. San Francisco did have a fumble and a missed field goal but they did force three fumbles out of Tampa Bay.
Patriots 33-3 over the Steelers: It was all New England as QB Tom Brady had 3 TD passes two going to WR Phillip Dorsett and one going to WR Josh Gordon. While the defense picked off QB Ben Roethlisberger once and forced two fumbles while they only gave up a field goal.
Saints 38-20 over the Texans: Despite QB Deshaun Watson leading his team down the field for the game winning TD with an extra point that missed but got another chance due to a penalty. It wasn’t enough because QB Drew Brees drove his team down the field right after for a game winning field goal as time expired. It was a good old back and forth matchup between to explosive offenses as Watson had one rushing TD and 3 passing TDs, and Brees had 2 TD passes but both QBs had interceptions. WR DeAndre Hopkins caught 2 TD passes for 111 yards receiving while former Saint WR Kenny Stills had the potential game winning TD, and RB Latavius Murray had the other Saints TD.
