Patriots 38-24 over the Colts: The Patriots offense was humming on all cylinders since WR Julian Edelman was back from suspension and injury while taking the field with TE Rob Gronkowski for the first time since 2016. WR Josh Gordon had his 1st TD pass from QB Tom Brady who had 3 total TD passes and 341 yards passing, while RB Sony Mitchell had a rushing TD. Being down 24-3 QB Andrew Luck did all he could with 3 TD passes two of those going to TE Eric Ebron, but he had two interceptions. It wasn’t enough but you also can’t blame Luck for this loss as they were missing too many players on a short week, and he had no one really to throw to. He had no running game as his RB fumbled the ball away. Brady became the 3rd player to reach the 500 career TD passes.
Bills 13-12 over the Titans: Both QBs Marcus Mariota and rookie Josh Allen didn’t have great days. Mariota only threw for 129 yards with one interception, a fumble and no TD passes. While Allen had an interception with no passing TDs but he did have a rushing TD. The Titans had 3 total fumbles and their kicker was their best player accounting for all 12 points. Steven Hauschka kicked the game winning field goal for Buffalo.
Panthers 33-31 over the Giants: QB Eli Manning had a good game with 326 yards with 2 TD passes but he had two interceptions. WR Odell Beckham had a fumble but made up for it with a receiving TD and he threw a TD pass to RB Saquon Barkley who also had the other Manning TD pass. While QB Cam Newton had 2 TD passes with a fumble and two interceptions, but his team came out on top due to a game winning field goal.
Bengals 27-17 over the Dolphins: QB Ryan Tannehill didn’t have a good day with 2 interceptions and a fumble with his lone TD pass. But his WR Jakeem Grant had a punt return TD. While the Bengals scored 27 unanswered points. DE Michael Johnson had an interception TD and DE Sam Hubbard returned a fumble for a TD.
Browns 12-9 over the Ravens: It wasn’t the Ravens day as they had two fumbles, and Joe Flacco had an interception with no TD passes as all 9 points came off field goals. QB Baker Mayfield had a TD pass but also had an interception while their kicker missed the potential game winning field goal, but then he redeemed himself by kicking the game winter in OT to avoid another tie for Cleveland.
Lions 31-23 over the Packers: The Lions had 24-0 lead heading into halftime thanks to QB Matthew Stafford and RB LeGarrette Blount. Stafford had 2 TD passes and Blount had 2 rushing TDs. QB Aaron Rodgers didn’t do himself any favors by fumbling it two times but threw 3 TD passes. The real issue was kicker Mason Crosby missing four field goals and an extra point. That is why Green Bay went for two points twice and only was successful once.
Chiefs 30-14 over the Jaguars: Despite throwing two interceptions QB Patrick Mahomes had a rushing TD and RB Kareem Hunt had a rushing TD too. QB Blake Bortles had a passing TD but had four interceptions and a fumble despite having a rushing TD too. DT Chris Jones returned one of those picks for a TD.
Jets 34-16 over the Broncos: Nobody saw the Jets running all over the Broncos and QB Sam Darnold throwing 3 TD passes. Two of those TD passes went to WR Robby Anderson who had 123 yards receiving while the other TD went to WR Terrelle Pryor who we now know is a Jet. We did not see RB Isaiah Crowell rushing for 219 yards (that is not a typo) with a rushing TD while his backup Bilal Powell even had 99 yards. Denver thought they would win after scoring 1st as QB Case Keenum had 2 TD passes but two fumbles and an interception, but did throw a 4th quarter TD to WR Demaryius Thomas in a failed comeback attempt (missing the two point conversion).
Steelers 41-17 over the Falcons: The Steelers running game was back after disappearing since game 1 with RB James Connor having 185 all total purpose yards with 2 rushing TDs. QB Ben Roethlisberger had 3 TD passes with two going to WR Antonio Brown. It really wasn’t QB Matt Ryan’s day despite a TD, having his starting RB Devonta Freeman was back but had a fumble and it was 27-10 game entering the 4th quarter. TJ Watt forced that Ryan fumble which led to a Steelers fumble recovery TD. Even QB Matt Schaub came into the game for Atlanta.
Chargers 26-10 over the Raiders: QB Phillip Rivers had 339 yards passing with 2 TD passes and his RB Melvin Gordon had a rushing TD. While QB Derek Carr did not have a good game with only 1 TD pass and an interception, his WR fumbled the ball and his kicker missed a field goal.
Vikings 23-21 over the Eagles: DT Linval Joseph recovered a fumble and returned it for the 1st TD of the game. QB Kirk Cousins had a quiet game with only 1 TD pass while QB Carson Wentz had 2 TD passes but his fumble was the mistake of the game. The Vikings won despite missing two field goals but had a 23-6 lead entering the 4th quarter which was enough to hang on.
Cardinals 28-18 over the 49ers: Well CJ Beathard wasn’t a total disaster since he had 2 passing TDs (back to back weeks with that) with a rushing TD but had two fumbles with two interceptions. Also kicker Robbie Gould missed his only field goal which did not help them as they kept shooting themselves in the foot since one of those Beathard fumbles was returned for a TD. But it was the RB David Johnson show with 2 rushing TDs and QB Josh Rosen had a passing TD.
Rams 33-31 over the Seahawks: The game began with a blocked punt by the Rams and then QB Jared Goff threw the ball away for one of his two interceptions on the day. He also had two fumbles. But it was the RB Todd Gurley Show who had 3 rushing TDs and 113 total all-purpose yards. QB Russell Wilson had a good game with 3 TD passes and no turnovers, and he got one of his RBs to actually get a rushing TD. The Rams won on a game winning field goal.
Texans 19-16 over the Cowboys: In the battle of Texas it was a very sloppy Sunday night game. QB Dak Prescott had two interceptions with one TD pass which went to WR Allen Hurns. For the Texans QB DeShaun Watson had one interception, a fumble and one TD pass, and WR DeAndre Hopkins fumbled the ball and didn’t get that TD pass. They also missed a field goal which could have killed them but they kicked the game winner in OT.
Saints 49-19 over Washington: It was the QB Drew Brees Show and the return of RB Mark Ingram. Brees is now the all time leader in career passing yards with 7203 after the game he had tonight. He had 3 TDs and 363 total yards and in Ingram’s return from suspension had 2 rushing TDs. Also their backup QB Taysom Hill had a rushing TD to make matters worse for Washington. New Orleans lead 40-13 entering the 4th so this game was over before it even started as QB Alex Smith had a fumble, an interception with no passing TDs. But he did have a rushing TD and so did his 4th string RB.
Bye week for Bears and Buccaneers
