Bengals 34-23 over the Ravens: The Bengals defense harassed QB Joe Flacco all game with four sacks, a forced fumble and two interceptions. Flacco did have 2 TD passes but the Bengals made sure none of the Ravens receivers had a 100 yard game. While QB Andy Dalton had 4 TD passes, 3 of those TD passes to WR AJ Green in the first half.
Colts 21-9 over the Redskins: The Colts defense held Washington to three field goals which is a surprise since the Colts have one of the worst defenses in the league. Washington’s leading rusher was a WR (29 yards) and their leading receiver was a RB (92 yards). QB Andrew Luck did not have to will his team from behind like he usually does but he didn’t help his cause by throwing two interceptions that cancelled out his 2 TD passes. RB Nyheim Hines had his first rushing TD.
Titans 20-17 over the Texans: When your franchise QB is out and you have to start Blaine Gabbert you think you’re going to lose but he did not turn the ball over with 1 TD pass. While QB DeShaun Watson had two fumbles and an interception essentially giving away a game they should have won especially if he had more TD passes and yards. The Titans scored a TD on a fourth down trick play from one safety throw to another safety.
Buccaneers 27-21 over the Eagles: Well QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was “Fitzmagic” again torching a good defense and this time it was a top 5 defense. On the first play he threw a TD pass to WR DeSean Jackson. That was one of 4 total TD passes for Fitzpatrick who also had 402 yards passing. They also forced two fumbles one by QB Nick Foles who did have 1 TD pass but he was out played by Fitzpatrick. His run game scored the other 2 TDs but they were down 20-7 entering the half and it wasn’t enough. If the run game was good you need to throw when you’re down. It’s another upset win for Tampa Bay. There goes my prediction of their finishing with 1 win.
Chiefs 43-37 over the Steelers: QB Ben Roethlisberger was better in this game with 3 TD passes and one rushing TD but it wasn’t enough as the other QB Patrick Mahomes had 6 TD passes two of them went to TE Travis Kelce who had 109 yards. For Pittsburgh they had another rushing TD by James Connor while his receivers had outrageous numbers for receiving yards. TE Jesse James had 138 yards and WR JuJu Smith-Schuster had 121 yards, they both caught TD passes while WR Antonito Brown only had 67 yards. Well now the Steelers are in last place.
Dolphins 20-12 over the Jets: QB Sam Darnold came back to earth with two interceptions and a fumble, 1 out his team’s four fumbles but he did have one TD pass to his backup RB. But typical Jets they missed the extra point. It wasn’t like QB Ryan Tannehill was that much better, as he had no interceptions but had two fumbles with this 2 TD passes. They also added a rushing TD by Kenyan Drake. You can’t fault the rookie QB as his team was down 20-0 to start the 2nd half if they couldn’t pull it out.
Packers tied Vikings 29: In a divisional game against the team that broke your collarbone QB Aaron Rodgers was to prove he was healthy from game one and that he wasn’t afraid of the Vikings, only had one TD pass. But they way the game started had been a message. They blocked a punt and returned it for a TD. Kicker Mason Crosby accounted for 17 points while the Vikings kicker missed all of his field goals which is not new for Minnesota with kickers in recent history. QB Kirk Cousins threw more TD passes 4 with two of them going to WR Stefon Diggs(128 yards and WR Adam Thielen having 1 TD and 131 yards), but he was intercepted. He willed his team from behind with a game tying two-point conversion but his kicker let him down as both teams’ kickers missed field goals in OT leading to a tie. Back to back weeks with ties.
Saints 21-18 over the Browns: The game started off sloppy resulting in three field goals before RB Carlos Hyde rushed in for a TD in the 2nd half, but as the Browns do they missed the extra point as they missed a total of two. The Saints had two fumbles and the Browns had three fumbles two coming from QB Tyrod Taylor who also had an interception canceling out his TD pass. The Browns missed two field goals and the Saints missed one. QB Drew Brees again willed his team from a 12-3 deficit by throwing 2 TD passes to WR Michael Thomas and setting up the field goal at the end.
Chargers 31-20 over the Bills: The Chargers took a 28-6 lead entering the half as QB Phillip Rivers had 3 TD passes with two of them going to RB Melvin Gordon who also added a rushing TD. The Bills backup RB Marcus Murphy had two fumbles and rookie QB Josh Allen had two interceptions, but his team was down by 22 points so it was an improvement that he threw a TD pass to his #1 WR Kelvin Benjamin at the end.
Falcons 31-24 over the Panthers: Without his lead RB Devonta Freeman QB Matt Ryan did it all himself with 2 TD passes and 2 rushing TDs despite an interception. His counterpart QB Cam Newton had 3 TD passes with an interception as well. His leading receiver was his RB so again Newton has to do everything by leading his team in rushing, but it wasn’t enough.
Rams 34-0 over the Cardinals: QB Sam Bradford did not look good again as he had 0 TD passes and an interception. That means they are wasting WR Larry Fitzgerald and RB David Johnson. The Rams completely dominated them with this shutout but RB Todd Gurley ran all over the Cardinals with 3 rushing TDs, 2 point conversions, and QB Jared Goff had a passing TD, a two point conversion pass but an interception.
Jaguars 31-20 over the Patriots: Well the Jaguars have beaten the Steelers, Giants and the Patriots in three of the last four games; we did not see that coming. QB Blake Bortles had an interception but he had 4 TD passes with one going to WR Donte Moncrief who we forgot was in the league, but that it was three TD passes before QB Tom Brady threw any. Brady did have 2 TD passes with both going to WR Chris Hogan as New England was playing from behind all day. Brady had an interception and Stephen Gostkowski missed a field goal too.
49ers 30-27 over the Lions: QB Jimmy Garoppolo rebounded after losing his first game of his career with 2 TD passes no interceptions but a fumble, and his RB Matt Breida had 138 yards rushing with a rushing TD. The Lions QB Matthew Stafford rebounded as well with 3 TD passes no interceptions with a fumble, but they were down 27-13 to start the 4th quarter but it wasn’t enough in the end despite his 2 of his 3 TDs coming in the 4th.
Broncos 20-19 over the Raiders: The Raiders had a 12 point lead going into halftime but got outscored 20-7. They even picked off QB Case Keenum who had no passing TDs but Keenum rushed for a TD and RB Royce Freeman had a rushing TD. Plus the two field goals by Brandon McManus. The critical play of the game was the Raiders getting their extra point blocked as it came down to literally one point.
Cowboys 20-13 over the Giants: The Cowboys took the lead right as the game started with a long TD pass to WR Tavon Austin and never looked back. RB Ezekiel Elliot scored his usual rushing TD as well. The Giants offense looked lost as the Cowboys caused QB Eli Manning to lose a fumble, sacked him five times, and only let him throw a TD pass at the very end to TE Evan Ingram.
Bears 24-17 over the Seahawks: The Bears defense had sacked QB Russell Wilson six times, forced three total fumbles, and took back an interception for a TD. However the game was still close. QB Mitchell Trubisky did have 2 TD passes but he had two interceptions. The Bears should have ran the ball once they had 17-3 lead to put the game away but did not as RB Jordan Howard only had 35 yards rushing. Trubisky had two interceptions before Wilson had his two 4th quarter TD passes.
