Vikings 30-23 over the Lions: Well the Lions did everything in their power to give away the game and Vikings grabbed it and ran all over them. QB Matthew Stafford had two fumbles and an interception, which doesn’t help when the opposing QB Case Keenum had 2 TD passes both to his TE Kyle Rudolph, and he even ran one in for a rushing TD. The Vikings also chewed up the clock with RB Latavius Murray who had a rushing TD.
Chargers 28-6 over the Cowboys: QB Phillip Rivers and Chargers took the lead early and didn’t let up. Rivers had over 430 yards and 3 TD passes, while his defense picked off QB Dak Prescott three times and took one of those interceptions back for a TD. The lone bright spot for Dallas was RB Rod Smith, who had a rushing TD but failed on the two point conversion.
Redskins 20-10 over the Giants: QB play dictated this game as QB Eli Manning had a fumble, 0 TD passes and an interception, while QB Kirk Cousins despite an interception had 2 TD passes. The only positive for the Giants was that interception by Cousins was returned for a TD.
Raiders 21-14 over the Broncos: A fight that even knocked the ref down that involved CB Aqib Talib and WR Amari Cooper, but only Talib was ejected. This game was defined by QB play since the Raiders actually have a franchise QB in Derek Carr who had 2 TD passes. While the Broncos who are on their 3rd QB in Paxton Lynch had an interception and a fumble and left the game due to injury, and QB Trevor Siemian came in and threw 2 TD passes. Oakland’s defense also added five total sacks, while RB Marshawn Lynch added a rushing TD to his escort of Talib off the field.
Cardinals 27-24 over the Jaguars: It was the Blaine Gabbert Bowl, who despite his two fumbles (2 TD passes) and an interception, the Cardinals won over the Jaguars who also shot themselves in the foot. Jacksonville couldn’t find any rhythm on offense as QB Blake Bortles had an interception and one of his team’s 3 fumbles. No passing TDs or rushing TDS from any RBS, but Bortles had 2 rushing TDs and DE Calais Campbell returned of one Gabbert’s fumbles for a TD. The Cardinals can thank their kicker Phil Dawson for keeping them in the game, accounting for 13 points and the game winner.
Rams 26-20 over the Saints: The story continues for Saints QB Drew Brees who had under 300 yards with a TD, with his RBS doing the work. Rookie Alvin Kamara had 188 total all purpose yards with both rushing and passing TDs. QB Jared Goff had 2 TD passes. It really was the battle of the kickers as Greg Zuerlein was the difference with 4 field goals with 14 points, while Wil Lutz had 2 field goals with 8 points.
Seahawks 24-13 over the 49ers: Despite an interception and a fumble by QB Russell Wilson who is doing everything on offense for the Seahawks, had 2 passing TD passes and a rushing TD. Those turnovers didn’t matter since the 49ers again looked lost on offense again as QB CJ Beathard had no TD passes with a fumble and interception. The hope is the 49ers have learned that Beathard isn’t their franchise QB since that game against the Giants was an outlier against a bad team and Jimmy Garoppolo should be thier QB. Garoppolo only had 2 total passes in this game and one was for a TD as time expired. The 49ers have to thank kicker Robbie Gould who has been the only consistent player putting up points for them.
Bills 16-10 over the Chiefs: It was a field goal and defensive game with a TD on each side. The difference was QB Tyrod Taylor who should be always starting as he had a clean game, while QB Alex Smith had an interception which sealed the game at the end. The Bills had the eventual game winning field goal.
Bengals 30-16 over the Browns: Again the Browns used multiple QBS as they had no passing TDs and had no interceptions but had a fumble. DeShone Kizer had a rushing TD their only TD. They also missed one of their field goals. QB Andy Dalton has been in a groove as of late with no interceptions and 2 TD pass, and RB Joe Mixon was unstoppable with 165 total all purpose yards and a rushing TD.
Falcons 34-20 over the Buccaneers: It wasn’t Doug Martin, Charles Sims, or Jacquizz Rodgers at RB with a TD it was 4th string RB Peyton Barber who had 2 rushing TDs. Even QB Ryan Fitzpatrick had no TD passes but also had no interceptions, which is good for him but it wasn’t enough to stop Atlanta. QB Matt Ryan had 317 yards passing with a TD pass to WR Julio Jones who had 253 yards receiving! Jones even caught a TD pass from fellow WR Mohamed Sanu who was in the wildcat formation, and RB Tevin Coleman in place of Devonta Freeman who is out, had 2 rushing TDs.
Patriots 35-17 over the Dolphins: QB Tom Brady can still have a bad game and win as he had two of his team’s three fumbles and an interception, but still finished with 4 TD passes. RB Rex Burkhead had a rushing TD and receiving TD even if RB Dion Lewis was the leading rusher with 112 yards. WR Brandin Cooks and TE Rob Gronkowski (2 TDs) caught the other TD passes. The Dolphins did capitalize one of the fumbles from Brady for a return TD. QB Matt More who was playing in place of the concussed Jay Cutler did his best despite being down early with a TD pass but he had two interceptions. His RB fumbled it which doesn’t help when you’re down to New England.
Panthers 35-27 over the Jets: QB Josh McCown out played QB Cam Newton with 3 TD passes (one fumble) to 0 TDs and 0 interceptions but a rushing TD and a two point conversion. It looked like he had two weapons only since WRS Robby Anderson (2 TDs 146 yards receiving) and Jermaine Kearse (1 TD and 105 receiving yards) caught his TD passes. But the game was won on one of the two fumbles by the Jets. McCown’s fumble was returned for a TD by LB Luke Kuechly and they had a punt return TD.
Eagles 31-3 over the Bears: The Eagles again dominated and showed why they are the best on both sides of the ball in the NFC despite a fumble game. QB Carson Wentz had 3 TD passes to his usual suspects and TE Zach Ertz who caught one of those TD passes had 103 yards receiving as well. They were up by so much even QB Nick Foles came into the game. It was a disaster for QB Mitchell Trubisky who had two interceptions and two fumbles with no TDS. The Bears can’t even use their best player if they are down early, and they finally got a new kicker in Cairo Santos but he missed one of his field goals.
Titans 20-16 over the Colts: QB Jacoby Brisset had two fumbles and no interceptions and Colts fans should be thankful for kicker Adam Vinatieri making three field goals, and for RB Frank Gore rushing a TD early to take a lead. But QB Marcus Mariota despite two interceptions is the better QB in this game who led his team back in the 2nd half with a TD pass to his TE Delanie Walker. RB DeMarco Murray had a rushing TD in the fourth quarter to seal it. The Titans’ defense had seven sacks on Brisset.
Steelers 31-28 over the Packers: The Packers’ offense and QB Brett Hundley finally showed up as he had 3 TD passes with no interceptions, and his RB Jamaal Williams had a rushing TD but they missed a field goal. QB Ben Roethlisberger despite two interceptions had 4 TD passes with 2 of them going to WR Antonio Bryant who had 169 yards receiving. That missed field goal came back to haunt Green Bay as the Steelers won on a game winning field goal with seconds left.
Ravens 23-16 over the Texans: It was a six field goal game without a passing TD game from either QB. The difference was QB Tom Savage who gave away the ball three times with two interceptions and a fumble. The Ravens had two rushing TDS from RBs Alex Collins and Buck Allen, as compared to the one rushing TD from Lamar Miller.
