NFL Recap Week 8 2017:

Ravens 40-0 over the Dolphins: It was an old school game for Baltimore as they had two defensives TDS all in the fourth quarter; two interception return TDS; and the offense did fumble it but recovered it for a TD. The RB Alex Collins chewed up lots of clock and finished with 113 yards rushing. QB Joe Flacco didn’t throw any interceptions but only had 1 TD pass to WR Jeremy Maclin, but he was knocked out with a concussion, but even his backup Ryan Mallett had a TD pass. The other backup QB Matt Moore who was playing in place of Jay Cutler had no TD passes and two interceptions, while his RB had less than 30 yards rushing and his leading receiver had under 70 yards receiving.

Vikings 33-16 over the Browns (in London): QB Case Keenum isn’t the best QB out there but he is a very good option if both of your QBS are injured, as he did have two TD passes but also threw an interception. WR Adam Thielen caught his first TD pass of the season and was just short of a 100 yard performance with 98 yards. While TE Kyle Rudolph caught the other TD pass. When your defense causes a fumble, sacks the QB three times, holds the QB TD less in the air, and your RBS chew up the clock, you don’t have to be great. It’s a bonus if one scores like RB Jerick McKnnon did. A bright spot for Cleveland was QB DeShone Kizer had a rushing TD and no interceptions. While RB Isaiah Crowell had a rushing TD, led the team in both rushing and receiving as well.

Falcons 25-20 over the Jets: Both QBS threw 2 TD passes and both fumbled it three times for Matt Ryan and two times for Josh McCown, while both teams had a WR fumble it as well. The difference in the game was Flacons kicker Matt Bryant, who was a perfect four for four while Jets kicker Chandler Catanzaro missed two field goals.

Panthers 17-3 over the Buccaneers: It was an ugly game between divisional rivals as QB Jameis Winston was making bad decisions that lead to stupid interceptions late in the game and he fumbled it as well as his team could only muster a field goal. For Carolina, they went against their goal of the season to have QB Cam Newton rush less but he led the team in rushing yards and threw an interception. He did have a TD pass WR Kelvin Benjamin in the fourth quarter and RB Jonathan Stewart had a rushing TD.

Eagles 33-10 over the 49ers: The Eagles showed again they can dominate on both sides of the field. The defense blocked a field goal, sacked the QB four times and intercepted him twice. The backup RB was the leading receiver with 39 receiving yards and the QB leading the team in rushing yards with 40. While QB Carson Wentz did have an interception he had 2 TD passes going to WR Alshon Jeffrey and TE Zach Ertz, and RB LeGarret Blount had a rushing TD.

Saints 20-12 over the Bears: In a game where QB Drew Brees had no TD passes and RB Mark Ingram had two fumbles, the Saints ended up beating the Bears because their offense looked bad again. QB Mitchell Trubisky had 0 TD passes with an interception and the Bears kicker keeps on missing crucial field goals. The Bears also had a TD taken back from them despite TE Zach Miller holding on to the ball, and to make things worse he left the game with an injury. Ingram did redeem himself with a rushing TD of his own and his back Alvin Kamara had a rushing TD too.

Patriots 21-13 over the Chargers: Despite missing two field goals Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowksi made four key field goals which were the difference in this game, since QB Tom Brady only had 1 TD pass to TE Rob Gronkowski. WR Travis Benjamin ran a punt back into the end zone but was tackled for a safety. Despite an early 87 yard rushing TD from Melvin Gordon the Chargers were again down heading into the fourth. QB Phillip Rivers had a fumble and interception but Benjamin redeemed himself with a TD in the fourth. But they failed on the two point conversions and missed a field goal in this game.

Bills 34-14 over the Raiders: Things started off great for the Raiders opening up the scoring with a rushing TD by FB Jamize Olawale but things took a turn for the worst after that. QB Derek had two interceptions and his team fumbled it four times (one by Olwale, two by the RBS and one by a WR). The Bills then took over as QB Tyrod Taylor threw a TD pass, rushed one in and one of the Raiders fumbles were recovered and returned for a TD. Backup RB DeAndre Washington made up for his fumble with a receiving TD, but then RB LeSean McCoy had a rushing TD and finished with 151 yards rushing to ice the game.

Bengals 24-23 over the Colts: QB Andy Dalton had no interceptions and 2 TD passes with one of them actually going to WR AJ Green, while RB Joe Mixon had 91 receiving yards. His defense even helped him out by intercepting QB Jacoby Brisset’s throw for a TD who ruined his good game with an icing pick six. Brisset did have two 2 TD passes with one going to TE Jack Doyle who had 121 yards receiving. The Colts special teams did force two fumbles.

Seahawks 41-38 over the Texans: In a game with two top 10 defenses you would think it would be a low scoring game with lots of running since both QBS are mobile. But nope it was a gun slinging day for both QBS. Both QBS had 4 TD passes and over 400 yards passing as Russell Wilson had 452 yards passing, and his team’s leading rusher, and DeShaun Watson had 402 rushing yards and his team’s leading rusher with 67 yards. Now the bad Wilson had an interception with a fumble and Watson had three interceptions but one of his interceptions was returned for a TD by FS Earl Thomas. TE Jimmy Graham had 2 TDs, WR Tyler Lockett had 121 yards receiving, and WR Paul Richardson had the other 2 TDs. On the other side, WR DeAndre Hopkins had 224 yards with a TD, WR Will Fuller V had 125 yards with 2 TDs, and RB Lamar Miller had both a rushing TD and a receiving TD.

Cowboys 33-19 over the Redskins: It was a six field goal game that was only sloppy for Washington as QB Kirk Cousins threw a crucial interception in the fourth quarter that was returned for a TD. He also fumbled it two times, and his RBs Chris Thompson and WR Jameson Crowder each fumbled it, while his kicker missed a field goal and an extra point. With all of that chaos it didn’t matter if QB Dak Prescott had no TD passes or that Ezekiel Elliot had a fumble, since Elliot had 150 yards rushing with 2 TDs.

Steelers 20-15 over the Lions: It was a six field goal name and the Steelers prevented the Lions from scoring any TD and forced a fumble. While the Steelers got a TD from one of the usual suspects Le’Veon Bell, and WR Juju Smith Schuster had a career day with 193 yards receiving with a TD.

Chiefs 29-19 over the Broncos: The Chiefs defense came ready to play in this divisional game as they forced two fumbles and picked off QB Trevor Siemian three times. One of those fumbles was returned for a TD by CB Marcus Peters who had one of those interceptions, and TE Travis Kelce who had a night with 133 yards receiving and TD. Chiefs’ kicker Harrison Butker had six field goals. A positive note for Denver was RB Devontae Booker getting his first TD of the year.
