Chevy has been the official vehicle of the MLB since 2005. This year they decided to come out with new commercials. They are trying to recall the commercials of 1974 Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet” with these new ads with current MLB players. Chevrolet is getting help from a Detroit Tiger who knows a good pitch and his power-hitting teammate do commercials for the brand’s 100-year history.
They plan to have 3 15 second commercials this season. Reigning Cy Young winner and MVP of 2011 season, Justin Verlander and his teammate Prince Fielder of will appear in the ads. Since Chevy was originally founded in Detroit why not use current Tigers players for the ads. Spike Lee directed the ads. The two that have Justin and Prince debuted on Opening Night of Baseball. It’s a part of MLB’s Play ball campaign for the season.
Chevy also works with the Boys & Girls Clubs of MLB and has helped sponsor youth baseball at the grassroots level since 2006 through the Chevrolet Youth Baseball program, and community baseball field makeovers through the Diamonds & Dreams program since 2010.
In the Verlander ad, he is on the mound about to deliver the next pitch but he is quietly singing the Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet song. In Prince’s ad, he is on deck waiting to hit and while he is he is singing Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet song quietly. You know that saying if you want American things you think of Chevy, Baseball, Hot Dogs and Apple pie so they really try to get back to our American roots.
